Bad Luck Day

in Italy is the equivalent of Friday the 13th.  In Italian popular culture, bad luck comes on Friday the 17th.  The origin of this belief, says Wikipedia, is the writing of the Roman numeral 17, XVII, which can be rearranged as VIXI, which as a word means, "I have lived", thus suggesting that one has also died.   Maybe it's a good thing we stayed home today!
