Olivia's 4th catching up post

On Friday, the first day for Aunt Linda and uncle Bill in Rome, we finally got to see the catacombs. It was interesting to think of all the people that had been buried there. We learned that the oldest graves were at the top because as they dug underground, they also dug down. They would dig into the side of the wall, dig down, dig into the side of the wall again and again dig down. They would continue to do this until they had about four levels of graves dug. We also learned the puritans would throw babies they didn't want into the snow. The Christians would rescue the children and try to nurse them back to health. If they couldn't and the child died, they would give the child a proper burial. We saw the baby boxes which were the holes in the wall small enough to hold just a baby. I found that very interesting. The catacombs were a very educational experience. On Saturday, I finally got to dye my hair. After debating where to highlight, I decided to just put one streak on the left side slightly back. Dad was somewhat upset about the blue but I just decided to ignore him. We also showed Aunt Linda the Pantheon and we were there for the third time. Earlier, Dad found out there was a Michelangelo statue at the church Sopra Minerva but when we went to see it, we couldn't because there was a wedding going on in the church. Dad just decided to bring us back later. Today, we went to Florence to meet Enrico, who will be our exchange student in the fall. We met his father who was very nice and interesting. We also met his mother who was also a great person. Enrico was a very interesting person and once he gets here in the fall, he will be a good match for our family. After the wonderful lunch we explored Florence a bit more. We saw replicas of David, Neptune, and Hercules. It was an amazing day and Florence is a beautiful city.
